I have come to understand that life is made of this: decisions, decisions, decisions. And I am tempted to say that the majority of our society is scared of making decisions, often leading to a life filled with fear, uncertainty and a lack of satisfaction.
I believe that we are usually faced with two types of decisions:
One option that plays it safe: This option brings more security, routine and guarantees.
The other option that we are faced with often makes us shudder with a bit of fear but sends electricity to our bones.
Creatives:
You see, some of us prefer playing it safe - there is nothing wrong with that! But then there are what I call the "Creatives". Creatives chase the excitement of the unknown (this definition stretches far beyond just artists). Playing it safe is not our style! The safe option deep down makes us feel a little mediocre. For Creatives mediocrity is death. We have a fire burning inside for something original, greater than the norm, greater than ourselves - and we are willing to risk it all and put aside all comfort, to at least try it. Creatives are drawn to the second option because even the slightest chance of success in this unknown path, challenges them to fight for it.
Life is full of confusion. Confusion of love, passion, and romance. Confusion of family and friends. Confusion with life itself. What path we take, what turns we make. How we roll our dice.

An example from my life:
You see, I was faced with a similar decision: a life as a successful doctor or business woman, or the life of an artist. It is unfortunate that in today's time, a career in the Arts is associated with terms such as "Struggling Artist" or "Hobbyist". There was a time that this was one of the reasons that I was willing to settle for a less adventurous life. I might need to clear something up: I am not saying that being a successful doctor, accountant, lawyer or business manager is boring and meaningless. I am merely saying that inside everyone of us is a passion for one particular thing and a bunch of other options that we find wonderful, but less exciting.
I was capable of being anything I want to be. We all are! I settled for a life of Medicine because I believed it was more promising and safe than a career in Arts. But I thank God for the day that my body starting fighting against a 50 hour work week, little sleep, sacrificing family and friends and simply spending my time doing something I knew in my heart was not for me. It was in that moment that passion overcame all reason, and I decided to choose the path that is filled with uncertainty, excitement, adventure, and meaning: ART.
Four steps that will lead you to more joy:
1. Grant yourself the permission to be happy and to do what you love doing.
2. Life is short! Do what you WANT to do! Do what you LOVE.
3. Allow your passion to take over your life! When it does, you will experience true joy.
4. Do not fear taking risks. Risks often lead to unimaginable rewards.
The most exciting thing for me is that when you do walk in your passion you actually serve yourself, and even more so, THE WORLD.
