Binita Snyman

GROWING UP

In 1991, Binita Snyman was born into a loving family based in Pretoria (South Africa). Her first years of life were spent playing in the dusty streets of Uganda and swinging on tyres with monkeys, as she moved around Africa with her parents who managed sustainable community projects. This nomadic, serving lifestyle aroused her passion for Africa and its people - a common theme in her artworks.
Since a young age, Binita was seen drawing pictures with her fingers in the daycares’ sandpits, carrying crayons with her and expressing herself on paper by means of paint and pencils. When her family decided to settle in South Africa, her art foundation was laid by artist Carolina van der Poel. In 2005 her art lessons ceased, and Binita started her journey as an independent artist.

EDUCATION

Binita matriculated from Die Hoërskool Linden, in 2009, with an average above 90% for art. She was torn between a degree in the Medical field, Business, and the Arts. Her passion for people and their well-being led her to study a degree in Biomedical Health Sciences (BHSc) at the University of the Witwatersrand. Binita then completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PDM) at Wits Business School in 2014. She made the decision to return to her first love, art, in 2015.

HER ART

Binita is best known for her fine art, prophetic art and murals. Her artworks are exhibited in guesthouses, private houses, schools, businesses and community centers.
Binita's most recent exhibitions include Adcock Ingram Health Professions Art Group Annual Art Exhibition, her solo exhibition that took place at @TheStudio, and Shalom Bible Exhibition in 2017.
She has created a mural for Nando's and been involved with Corporate Social Initiative makeovers with Investec, Standard Bank and Primer.

WHY ART?

In November of 2014, Binita received the revelation that art is powerful and has the potential to heal, bring about change, encourage and bless. She spent 2015 investigating ways in which she could combine her art talent with her degree in the health care field - the goal being to guide people to wholeness in their body, soul and spirit. Binita’s own experience with emotional distress and subsequent healing has brought awareness of her purpose in life: to facilitate physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
August 2015 saw the launch of Binita’s – an art and lifestyle business. This allows Binita to focus on her artwork full-time, which enables her to bless others through the beauty and healing her art brings and glorify God, the provider of her talent, through her art.
